GENERAL MANAGER'S AWARDS CEREMONY IS TUESDAY

Come join us in the Center Street report area on Tuesday, September 29 for this year’s General Manager Award ceremony. The celebration begins at 10 a.m. If you are unable to attend, information on the award winners will be posted on TriNET after the ceremony.

TRIMET TO HOLD FOOD DRIVE ALL WEEK

Emergency food box distribution is on the rise in our community with families and children facing the greatest need. All this week TriMet will be holding a food drive for the Oregon Food Bank. Food collected during food drives remains in the community where it was collected. There will be a barrel or box at each facility. Here are some suggested items for the food drive:

* Canned meats (tuna, chicken, salmon, etc)
* Canned & boxed meals (soup, chili, mac & cheese, etc)
* Peanut butter (no glass jars)
* Canned or dried beans and peas
* Pasta, rice and cereal
* Canned fruits
* 100% fruit juice (canned, plastic or boxed)

FLU SEASON IS HERE … ARM YOURSELF BY GETTING VACCINATED

Vaccines for the seasonal flu are now being administered throughout the area. The best way to protect yourself from the seasonal flu is to get the yearly flu shot, available to everyone. The seasonal flu shot will not protect you against pandemic H1N1 flu. The H1N1 vaccine is expected to be available early October. The Center for Disease Control is recommending that the H1N1 vaccine first be available to the following five priority groups:

* Children and young adults from 6 months to 24 years
* Pregnant women
* Health care workers and emergency medical responders
* People caring for infants under 6 months of age
* People aged 25-64 with underlying medical conditions (such as asthma, immune-deficiencies, diabetes, etc)

Protect yourself by getting the seasonal flu shot now and get the H1N1 flu vaccine, if you are in one of the priority groups, once it is available.
For more information on seasonal flu and pandemic H1N1 virus, visit the Oregon Department of Health website. Click here for information on flu shots for Regence BlueCross BlueShield and Kaiser patients.
